Guildford’s Youth Council launches its very first Battle of the Bands on 31 August supported by the council. The event is set to entertain, delight and inspire local talent, with a real mixed batch of performers taking part.
The Mayor of Guildford, Cllr Angela Gunning will officially open the competition at the Electric Theatre and visitors will be treated to beefy bass lines from local bands such as The Burning Virgins, Mesa Verdi, Di-Star, Neclar, Neon Lights and many more.
Lead Councillor for People and Partnership, Cllr Jen Powell, says:
“Battle of the Bands will be a fantastic opportunity for local youth to express themselves in a creative and musical way. This event is the first of its kind for the council. I am sure it will encourage budding performers to take part in future events and become a regular band night for the young people of Guildford as we are focused on providing what the community, young and old, needs.”
The council is also part of the Surrey wide young people's music project, Live and Direct, where you can learn how to write your own music and perform in end of term gigs - visit www.liveanddirect.org.uk for more information.
