A recycling service for companies in Guildford is proving a big success. Recently launched by Guildford Borough Council and jointly funded by SEEDA, the scheme offers a weekday collection for local businesses.
Cllr Jenny Wicks, Lead Cllr for Environment comments: "We are keen to do all we can to help businesses in Guildford go green. Having a weekly recycling collection is an easy and straightforward way to do this. A simple phone call is all it takes to order your bin."
A new law, coming into effect on 30 October 2007, will mean that all waste producers must treat their waste before disposal and separate it for recycling. By signing up for the borough council's scheme, local companies can save time and effort - all they need do is put their recycling in the handy bin.
Recycling sacks or recycling bins are available by contacting the council's recycling team. Paper, cardboard, cans and plastic bottles can all be recycled.
Guildford Spectrum has already signed up to the scheme. Claire Davenport, General Manager at the award-winning leisure complex adds: "This scheme works because it makes things so easy for us. We can recycle every week and know that we are helping to save valuable landfill space in Surrey."
This initiative is part of Guildford Borough Council's commitment to improving residents’ local surroundings, by focusing on issues that matter most to them such as a cleaner, safer and greener environment.
