Thursday 17 April, 2008
The best of English food, drink and tradition will be celebrated at a special St George's Day Farmers' Market in Guildford High Street on Wednesday 23 April from 10.30am to 3.30pm.
Over 50 decorated stalls will offer a great selection of Farmers' Market goods, including a farm BBQ outside Holy Trinity Church, which will be tickling visitors' tastebuds with the famous 'St George's Day banger'.
Sue Webber, Farmers' Market Co-ordinator, says: "We are hoping to build on the great success of our first St George's Day market last year and we are encouraging visitors to wear a red rose buttonhole to celebrate this special day."
Adds Chairman of Pubwatch, Jane Lyons: "Many of Guildford's pubs will be joining in the St George's Day celebrations, offering English ale and food that evening".
Guildford Farmers' Market runs throughout the year on the first Tuesday of each month (except January). In addition to the St George's Day market, a special Summer Festival Saturday market and annual Christmas market are also planned for 2008.
