Community projects, play and arts groups, and local young sports stars could benefit from half a million pounds worth of cash grants if Guildford Borough Council approves the funding this week.
The Council's Executive Committee will meet this Thursday (26 February) to approve the organisations and individuals across the borough who will have a share in the £500,000 funding.
Those due to benefit include:
- Disability Challengers, who have applied for a Community and Youth grant to refurbish facilities and buy additional play equipment.
- Community halls in Ash Vale, Jacobs Well, Fairlands and East Horsley are due to receive funding for new furniture and equipment.
- Ripley Bowling Club, who are set to receive £10,000 from the Community Partnership Fund towards the building of a pavilion and four rink bowling green.
- Ten local organisations are set to receive continued funding from the Council to help with their ongoing success.
- A total of 26 arts groups, 8 play organisations, 16 sports clubs and 48 young people with outstanding sporting ability - ranging from sailing to alpine skiing - are due to receive a grant.
Cllr Jen Powell, Lead Councillor for People and Partnership, says: "I am proud that we give this financial assistance to cultural, sports and community projects across the borough. This funding helps many local residents take part in a wide range of activities."
