The meeting is an important opportunity for members of the business community to feed their views about the services the council provides into the borough’s spending plans for the coming year and the future.

Leader of the Council, Cllr Andrew Hodges, comments:

"This is an important meeting for rate payers, as it is their chance to engage with the council about the services that matter most to them. There will also be important updates on the methods for calculating business rates and the support services that the council offers."

More information on the business rate system will be provided at the meeting including; the new empty property rating arrangements, the 2008 multiplier, transitional arrangements for 2008 and for 2009, the small business rate relief scheme, and advice on action you can take if your business is adversely affected by local redevelopment.

If you are involved in a business in Guildford Borough, you are encouraged to attend the meeting, which will be held in the Council Chamber, Millmead House, Millmead at 5.30pm on 7 January 2008.
