Nominations needed for extra clean-up (press release)

Tuesday 21 April, 2009

Residents can now suggest areas they think need a bit of a extra attention, as part of this year's Keep Guildford and Waverley Clean scheme.

Street cleaning teams from Guildford and Waverley Borough Councils will be in action this summer to address areas nominated by local people.

Cllr Terence Patrick, Lead Councillor for Healthy Living says: "Last year's scheme was a big success.  We cleaned all the areas suggested by residents and want to build on that by involving even more local people this year to help improve their surroundings."

Paul Redmond, Waverley’s Environmental Services Manager, says: "Residents are often best placed to spot areas in their neighbourhood that could do with a clean up.  We’re looking forward to receiving lots of nominations.  Waverley’s a beautiful borough but we would like to make it even more so."

What can be nominated:
Anything on or near a road within Guildford or Waverley Borough, for example:

  • a litter-strewn residential road
  • an uncared for alleyway

How to nominate:
By filling in our online nominations form.  Alternatively call 01483 444499 (Guildford) or 01483 523405 (Waverley) to request a nomination form.

Nominations must be received by 29 May 2009.

For more information visit our nominations pages.

This initiative is part of Guildford and Waverley Borough Councils’ commitment to improving residents’ local surroundings, by focusing on issues that matter most to them such as a cleaner, safer and greener environment.
