Pay and display parking charges re-introduced in town centre (press release)

29 October 2008

Charging for short-term parking in the pay and display bays on the streets of Guildford town centre is to be re-introduced this Saturday 1 November.

This means motorists should use the pay and display machines when they park, and all parking controls in the town centre are operating normally including off-street car parks and yellow lines. Normal charges and restrictions apply.

Pay and display charging resumes following an amendment to the parking order by Surrey County Council as the highways authority, and Guildford Borough Council, which manages the on-street parking on the County Council’s behalf.

Charging was temporarily suspended in September following a problem with a previous parking order. Both Councils have worked together to correct the problem which applied to a small percentage of town centre parking.
