Guildford will mark Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day with two minute silences as a mark of respect for those who have lost their lives in war.

Mayor of Guildford, Cllr Jennifer Jordan will lead the civic procession to a commemorative service at Holy Trinity Church on Sunday morning, 9 November 2008. The service will begin with a bugler sounding the Last Post.

At the end of the service the civic and military procession will make their way to the castle grounds, inviting others to join them for the laying of wreaths at the war memorial.

The Mayor of Guildford will lead commemoration of Armistice Day on 11 November 2008 with a two minute silence at the Guildhall at 11am.  The traditional maroon will be fired from the Castle Grounds to signal the start and end of the silence.
