Guildford's talented individuals and teams were recognised on Monday (7 July) at a special ceremony for the Sport Guildford Awards.
Supported by Guildford Borough Council, the 2008 awards were the fifth annual celebration of sport in Guildford Borough.
Cllr Terence Patrick, Lead Councillor for Healthy Living, says: "The awards provide the perfect opportunity to recognise individuals and teams for their valuable input into Guildford's vibrant sporting community and collectively celebrate their achievements."
There are 11 awards sponsored by local business and community groups, including the Guildford Borough Council Sports Development Coaches Award, which this year was presented to Andy Walker.
Since helping to set up the Shalford Youth Academy in 2005, Andy has been instrumental in raising the standards of coaching available to young footballers. The quality of his coaching was recently proved when one of his players was invited to trial for Stoke City Football Club.
