Housing, jobs, traffic, health, transport and the environment - these are just some of the hot topics covered in a public consultation on the future of the borough which runs until 17 July 2009.
Run by representatives from local public services and business, voluntary and community groups, the Guildford Local Strategic Partnership (LSP) is asking local people to have their say on the draft Sustainable Community Strategy - the plan for the overall economic, social and environmental well-being of the borough up to 2026.
Says LSP Chairman, Cllr Andrew Hodges: “We are asking for feedback on a range of important issues that will affect everyone at some point in their lives - from traffic and climate change to young people and healthy lifestyles. This is your chance to comment on how the partnership aims to improve the quality of life for all residents whatever their circumstances”.
Featuring suggested priorities for the borough until 2026, the draft strategy was developed in consultation with representatives from the local community. It will mean the LSP will be able to focus on what local people want in the future.
The consultation will cover:
-
jobs and the local economy
-
housing
-
traffic and transport
-
health and well-being
-
children and young people
-
safer, stronger, sustainable communities
-
climate change and the environment.
A detailed action plan to show how these priorities will be met will be part of a separate, shorter-term delivery plan. Residents will have the chance to have their say on this later in the year.
