Young people in Bushy Hill and Park Barn could soon have the chance to improve their sporting skills if local residents give the green light to two new ballcourts in a consultation being run by the council.
The council's parks and countryside team has sent information about the proposed multi-sports ballcourts to residents living near each location and is awaiting their feedback.
Says Head of Parks and Countryside, Chris Bruce:
"One of our core values as a council is to provide what the community needs. Whenever proposals like this are made we listen to - and take on board - the views of the public and interested groups.
"Facilities like these ballcourts are great for young people and they have asked for kick-about areas in the past. They provide them with a place for constructive activity as well as sporting enjoyment. However, as with any proposal the views of people living nearby are just as important and this is their chance to have a say."
The ballcourt in Bushy Hill, Merrow would be on 57 square metres and will be on an existing grass kick about area on Bushy Hill open space. The Park Barn ballcourt would be behind the community centre on a 12 metre by 20 metre plot. Neither ballcourt will be lit up after dark.
Residents have until 31 July to comment on the proposals. For more information please visit the parks and countryside consultations page or call 01483 444718.
This consultation is part of the council's commitment to improving residents’ local surroundings, by focusing on issues that matter most to them such as a cleaner, safer and greener environment.
