Do you know someone who deserves recognition for going the extra mile to help their local community? The Mayor of Guildford is looking for nominations for the Mayor's Award for Community Service 2009.
Mayor of Guildford, Cllr Jennifer Jordan says: "This award offers a chance to say thank you to those who help improve the quality of life for their fellow residents, by building a strong community spirit throughout the borough".
The person nominated must either live in the borough or benefit local residents. The range of activities is not limited and every entry will be considered on its individual merits.
One of last year's winners, Shirley West says: "It was lovely to receive such a prestigious award from the Mayor in the beautiful surroundings of the Guildhall. Knowing that the Mayor represented the local community that nominated me made it a very special and unique occasion".
The deadlines for nominations is 5pm on Friday 6 March, 2009. The Mayor will present the award at a special ceremony on Saturday 25 April.
