The development of a replacement Civic in Guildford continues to move forward with the unveiling of the project plans.
Austin-Smith:Lord, the architectural team appointed by the council in November, will present the plans and elevations to the Civic Selection Panel on Wednesday 14 February. This will be the first opportunity for members of the panel to see how the plans have developed from the feasibility study produced by Bennetts Associates last year.
Cllr Nigel Manning, Lead Councillor for Procurement, Projects and Performance, says:
"The replacement for the Civic will have a positive impact on the top of the town and will form part of an integrated urban design complex. This exciting project provides a great combination of economic and cultural opportunities for Guildford."
The architects will consider the panel's views and will then enter into a pre-planning application consultation process with interested parties in the borough. A public exhibition will also take place.
A planning application for the replacement Civic building will be submitted following the consultation. It will then be assessed by the council's planning officers before its presentation to the Planning Committee.
