Feel safe when using the borough council’s car parks. That’s the message from Guildford Borough Council after seven more car parks achieved the Safer Car Parking Award. The latest crop brings the total number with awards to nineteen.
Cllr Keith Taylor, Lead Councillor for Community Safety says:
“This is great news for residents and visitors. We have some of the safest car parks in the country and I’m delighted that the hard work and dedication of the council’s parking team has been recognised.”
The seven car parks that met the inspection criteria include:
-
Millmead House
-
Millmead
-
Lawn Road
-
High Street
-
Shalford Park
-
St. Josephs
-
Old Police Station
Assessors praised Guildford’s car parks for their low levels of crime, which is a direct result of the council’s success in improving safety, security, maintenance and the use of clear and distinct signage. CCTV, regular patrols and on going redecoration and graffiti removal have all helped to create a safer environment.
This initiative is part of Guildford Borough Council's commitment to improving residents’ local surroundings, by focusing on issues that matter most to them such as a cleaner, safer and greener environment.
