There will be something for everyone at the family fun day and picnic to celebrate the grand opening of a new playground at Kingston Meadows in East Horsley on 23 July.
 
The playground has been jointly funded by Guildford Borough Council and East Horsley Parish Council.  It will be declared officially open during a ribbon cutting ceremony at 12pm by the Mayor of Guildford, Angela Gunning, with help from the 7 year old poster competition winner, Emily Jordan.
 
Chris Bruce, Head of Parks and Countryside Services, explains:

“The new playground provides some great facilities for local children and it has been really useful to work so closely with the parish council. The project was completed in good time and  has been fully checked by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA), so it's safe and ready for the kids’ seal of approval."

Entrance to the event is free and families should bring their own picnics. For the more energetic visitors there is a bouncy castle, running races and even a chance to show the likes of Beckham and Rooney how it should be done, with a penalty shoot out competition.
 
Richard Deighton, Parish Clerk for East Horsley Parish Council, adds:

"We are very excited about opening the playground and this seems like a fitting way to launch it. We've got plenty of  entertainment, ranging from a balloon modeller to members of the local fire service, who have kindly agreed to bring along one of their fire engines for the day."
