Talk tubes, bouncing mushrooms and a tornado roundabout are just some ways to keep the kids entertained this Easter holidays at four new look playgrounds opened by Guildford Borough Council. The playgrounds at Park Barn Drive, the Oval in Guildford Park, Bushy Hill Drive and Allen House Grounds have been updated to offer new sports and play equipment.
Cllr Terence Patrick, Lead Councillor for Healthy Living says: "We are pleased to open these brighter, better playgrounds which encourage our youngsters to enjoy the fresh air in a safe and fun environment. We provide facilities for all ages, so why not try the new full-size ballcourt at Bushy Hill Drive if you like playing sports?"
The new playground facilities, which are mainly suitable for children from four to eight years old with adult supervision, include:
-
a mini-trail for younger children, bouncing mushrooms, climbing frame and buddy swing for older visitors at the Oval
-
a Zingo Yo Yo springer for toddlers, a double cradle swing, talk tubes, two sets of swings and a tornado roundabout at Park Barn Drive
-
a new full-size ballcourt to replace an older half-size facility at Bushy Hill Drive
-
a new full-size multisport goal area at Allen House Grounds, funded by Section 106 monies collected from developers who build properties in the local area.
The improvements cost between £75,000 and £110,000 for each playground and form part of the Guildford Play Strategy. The facilities were installed by SMP Playgrounds, Hags Play Ltd and Record RSS.
