Elections for the European Parliamentary and Surrey County Council elections will take place on Thursday 4 June 2009. There is also a by-election in the Normandy parish of Guildford Borough.
Surrey County Council elections are taking place in all ten divisions within the Guildford Borough Council area. One county councillor is to be elected in each of these divisions: Ash, Guildford East, Guildford South-East, Guildford West, Guildford South-West, Guildford North, Horsleys, Shalford, Shere and Worplesdon. The poll cards will indicate in which division the elector is voting.
Nomination papers for the Surrey County Council and Normandy parish elections can be obtained during office hours from the Returning Officer, Richard Lingard at Guildford Borough Council. Completed nomination papers must be delivered to the Returning Officer at our Millmead offices by 4pm on Thursday 7 May 2009 for Surrey County Council elections. Deadline for receipt of nominations for the Normandy parish by-election is 12 noon on Thursday 7 May 2009.
The deadline for new applications to vote or changes to an existing postal or proxy vote is 5pm on 19 May 2009. The deadline to apply for a new proxy vote is 5pm 27 May 2009.
If you are a citizen of a European Union country, wish to vote in the UK at the European election and have not yet returned your form to the Electoral Services office, please do so before 19 May at the very latest.
