Pedestrians using a Guildford subway can now feel safer thanks to the installation of a new CCTV system.
Working in partnership with Surrey Police, Guildford Borough Council has installed the cameras at Egerton Road subway, which runs between the University of Surrey and Tesco. Pictures from the new cameras are transmitted to the CCTV control room at Guildford police station.
Cllr David Wright, Lead Councillor for Community Safety, says: "The installation of the new cameras at Egerton Road is great news for local residents. The CCTV system in Guildford now consists of 48 cameras and a further 7 portable cameras, which help to keep the borough a safe place to live and work."
CCTV cameras will also be added to a second subway at Southway later this month.
