Building control online submissions


We can accept building regulation applications electronically.  To submit your building regulation application online please visit our online submissions system (this page opens in a new window).  There are 3 types of building regulation applications that can be submitted online, full plans, building notice and regularisation.  For details of these, please refer to our types of application page.

The following file formats can be submitted online with your application.

  • Adobe PDF
  • AutoCAD formats
  • Microsoft Word or Excel
  • JPEG images
  • TIF images

You will need to pay a charge (fee) for each building regulation application you submit.  These charges vary according to the type of work which you are carrying out.

To work out how much the charge will be, please use our online fee calculator or alternatively you may view our charges scheme 2009 [PDF] (578k).  Please note that the standard rate of VAT was temporarily reduced to 15 per cent on 1 December 2008 and it will return to 17.5 per cent on 1 January 2010.

If you are using our charges scheme 2009 [PDF] (578k) you will therefore need to recalculate your charge allowing for VAT at 17.5%.

Payment can be made by all major credit and debit cards.  Please note that a commission charge of 1.8% will be added if paying by credit card, or 1.3% if you are present, i.e. paying at our planning reception desk.  Alternatively you can send a cheque, made payable to Guildford Borough Council, clearly indicating the online reference number and address of the property, to the address below.
