Screening your new wheeled bin
Guildford Borough Council has introduced wheeled bins for waste that cannot be recycled or composted. You may want to screen your wheeled bin(s) behind a built enclosure, such as a small brick wall or fence. However, some structures may require planning permission. For more information, view our page on how to screen your wheeled bin.

Extensions to the time limits for implementing existing planning permissions
From 1 October new provisions have come into effect that allow the time limits on extant (i.e. not yet expired) and unimplemented planning permissions (including associated listed building consent and conservation area consent approvals) to be extended in order to keep the permission 'alive'.
New national application forms in relation to this new provision, along with guidance notes, are available to download from our forms page.
Initially, the fee payable for this type of application will be the same as if the application were for a new planning permission. However, the intention is to amend the Town and Country Planning (Fees for Applications and Deemed applications) Regulations 1989 later this year, so that a reduced fee will be payable on this type of application.
Non-material amendments
Secondary planning legislation has been amended to provide a simple and quick mechanism for making non-material amendments to planning permissions. Following a grant of planning permission, it is sometimes necessary to make small amendments, for example moving a door or window. Whether or not such amendments are non-material will depend on the circumstances of each case. For instance, moving a window could be material if it results in the overlooking of a neighbour, but could be non-material if it does not. It is hoped that this formal process will remove the need for entirely new applications where only a very small change is sought.
New national application forms in relation to this new provision, along with guidance notes, are available to download from our forms page.
The local planning authority will aim to issue a decision within 28 days. There is currently no fee for this application. However, when the Town and Country Planning (Fees for Applications and Deemed applications) Regulations 1989 are amended later this year, it is likely that a fee will be required for this application.
