When someone submits a planning application, we will publicise their application in the following ways:

• We'll write to the neighbours telling them about the application and giving them 21 days to write to us.
• when an application is registered it is made available online or can be viewed at our Planning Helpdesk or parish council offices.

For some applications, we may:

• put up a notice on the site;
• advertise the application in one or more local newspapers; or
• write to organisations and groups with an interest in the site, giving them 14 days to send us comments (including Surrey County Council Highways department and Parish Councils)

Neighbours
If your home or business shares a boundary with an application site, we will send you a letter giving details of the proposal.  In the case of more major applications, we will also send letters to homes and businesses which are near the application site.

This letter will explain where you can view the application and how you can send / email us your comments.  We will need to receive any comments within 21 days of the date on our letter.

If any major changes are made to the application, we will write to you again, giving you extra time to send us your comments (usually between 7 to 14 days).
