
We encourage cycling as an alternative to the car for short trips, such as journeys to work and school. In order to encourage all age groups to cycle, a coherent cycle network is being developed linking key areas such as residential, employment and schools.

Cycle Guildford
Cycle Guildford contains a map of both on and off-road cycle routes and where to find special cycle parking within Guildford. It identifies the cycling facilities and provides valuable information on safety and security, cycling skills, equipment and useful contacts for further information.

The eight guides forming the Surrey Cycle Guides are a set of maps showing the location of cycling facilities, recommended cycling routes and rights of way where you are legally allowed to cycle.
Surrey Cycle Guide No. 4 provides a map showing recommended cycling routes and locations of cycling facilities in Ash, Farnham, Godalming, Guildford, Puttenham, Tongham and Worplesdon.

Christmas Pie trail
The Christmas Pie trail is a leisure cycle route running from the northwest edge of Guildford to the east side of Farnham and is generally off-road. The route is 8.5 miles and is suitable for all abilities.

National Cycle Network Route 22
The National Cycle Network Route 22 runs along quiet lanes from the centre of Guildford to Farnham on the south side of the Hogs Back. The route is 9.6 miles with a very steep hill coming out off Guildford.
The Downs Link Cycle Route
The Downs Link Cycle Route is a long distance bridleway linking the North and South Downs Ways. The path runs along the bed of an old railway line.
Join the Guildford Cycle Forum
Guildford Cycle Forum is comprised of representatives from Guildford Cycle Group, the borough and county council. Meetings are held every 3 months to discuss cycling issues in the borough and the development of the cycling strategy. Please contact the Transportation Team if you are interested in joining the forum.
Guildford cycling strategy
Our cycling strategy provides the framework for cycle route provision in the borough. The strategy is updated annually and describes the routes and other facilities scheduled for implementation in the forthcoming year.
