The 2008 Guildford Book Festival will take place between 16 and 25 October. The 2008 brochure will be available from Guildford Tourist Information Centre, Waterstone's, libraries, the Electric Theatre and other points around Guildford in early September 2008.
The 2007 Guildford Book Festival, which ran between 15 October and 27 October 2007 presented an exciting line-up of Britain's best writers and personalities in a wide-ranging celebration of the written word. Authors who made an appearance in 2007 included comedian Barry Cryer, broadcaster Gyles Brandreth, best selling authors Adele Parks, Colin Dexter and Louis de Bernieres, crime writers John Connolly, John Harvey and Mark Billingham, biographer Simon Sebag Montefiore and footballer Graeme Le Saux.
A packed children's programme coincided with half term and featured The Big Draw as well as many interactive events such as The Hungry Caterpillar and workshops including Manga and How to Write Detective Stories. There were lots of storytelling sessions at Waterstone's too and events like Grace Dent's Diary of a Chav added more fun and colour to the Festival. Much loved authors Jacqueline Wilson and Children's Laureate Michael Rosen also made personal appearances during the Festival.
