| Step into the world of Prehistoric man, the Romans and Saxons, monks and friars, Lewis Carroll and the Victorians, when you visit Guildford Museum. The archaeology gallery shows the development of life in Surrey from Prehistoric times to the Middle Ages, bringing history to life with figures depicting scenes from the distant past. Axes from the Stone Age, tools and pottery from the Bronze Age, implements from the Iron Age and finds from palatial villas and temples that the Romans built are on display, along with varied medieval and later objects, such as medieval tiles and 17th century pottery and glassware. Upstairs, local history, Victorian childhood and Victorian cottage life are displayed. There is also a comprehensive collection of needlework. |
