The Office of the Children’s Commissioner (OCC) is an independent organisation that was set up by Parliament to look after your interests and act as your voice.
Professor Sir Albert Aynsley-Green is the person whose job it is to speak on your behalf. Before becoming the Children's Commissioner he was a children's doctor for over 30 years. He believes that all young people need a voice and that they aren't listened to enough.
Al works closely with organisations whose decisions affect all aspects of your life, including the police, schools, hospitals and voluntary groups. He also listens to your views on issues such as bullying, personal safety and pressure in education.
Alongside Al and his team are two 14 year olds who are young assistant commissioners. They are supported by 10 other pupils from their school who act as their deputies.
Al and his team currently want your opinions on the following topics:
-
Children and young people in society
-
Tackling discrimination
-
Youth justice and antisocial behviour
-
Bullying
-
Asylum seeking and immigration
-
Vulnerable children
-
