I have served as a Guildford Borough Councillor for the Pirbright Ward since 1999 and have been a county councillor for the Worplesdon Division since 2005.
I am the Chairman of the Heathland Countryside Management Steering Committee and also serve on the Council's Planning Committee and Community & Health Scrutiny Committee. At county level, I am a member of the Planning and Environmental Select Committees, as well as the Guildford Local Committee. Locally, I am a school governor at Pirbright Village School and Worplesdon School.
I have a business background with over 30 years of experience working in the public and private sectors. My career has ranged from professional photography, working on many international publications and specialising in advertising and public relations, to involvement in personnel management consultancy in the fields of training and change management.
I have a passion for the protection of the countryside and wildlife and strongly believe that, if heathland wildlife is to survive and if we are to continue to draw enjoyment and inspiration from it, then we must stem its loss and start to reinstate it.
I served as the mayor of Guildford in 2007/08.
