Garden waste collection renewals We have identified an administrative error on some letters we have sent out for garden waste collection renewals. We would like to confirm that the correct payment for this year is £15 for two bags, £30 for three bags and £45 for four bags. If you are paying online, by phone or by cheque, please pay these amounts. For those customers with an error in their letter, please accept our apologies for any confusion. Green boxGlass bottles and jars, cans, tins, aerosols, plastic bottles and household batteries (please use the sealable plastic bag provided) can all be recycled in your green box. Please rinse out cans, bottles and jars. This box needs to be set out at the kerbside in a clearly visible location by 7am on your collection day. PlasticsPlease remember we can only recycle plastic bottles. Currently, there are extremely limited markets for other types of plastics and most sorting machinery in the UK is designed to sort bottles only. We hope that technology will improve in the future so that we will be able to collect other types, but for now it's bottles only please. Any type of bottle can be recycled, including those used for milk, water, fizzy drinks, shampoo, washing-up liquid, detergents and so on. If it is bottle shaped, it can go in the green box. BatteriesWe can provide you with small battery bags that, once full, can be sealed and deposited into your green box. Batteries suitable for recycling include AA, AAA, square and button batteries that are either single use or rechargeable. Please ensure that the batteries are fully "spent" by testing them in a torch or other relevant product. It is also important to make sure that the bag is properly sealed before placing in the box.For further supplies of battery bags please email or telephone us using the contact details below. Car batteries should be taken to your local Community Recycling Centre. If you find one recycling box is not enough, we can supply additional boxes free of charge. Please call customer services for further details. |
