Garden waste collection renewals

We have identified an administrative error on some letters we have sent out for garden waste collection renewals. We would like to confirm that the correct payment for this year is £15 for two bags, £30 for three bags and £45 for four bags. If you are paying online, by phone or by cheque, please pay these amounts.

For those customers with an error in their letter, please accept our apologies for any confusion.

Wheeled bin

Wheeled bin

This container is for materials that cannot be recycled or composted. Residents who are able to have a wheeled bin are offered a choice of a 240 or a 140 litre bin. The dimensions can be seen in the image below.

The wheeled bin should be set out just inside the boundary of your property, nearest to the road used by our collection vehicle, by 6am on your collection day.

If you use all the recycling containers that will be given to you, there should be very little left to go in this bin and it will be big enough for your needs. Please contain all your rubbish inside the bin with the lid closed.

This will help us to reduce the amount of waste we send to landfill, stop the spread of litter from split sacks and protect the health and safety of our crews.

If you really can't fit all of your waste in your bin on special occasions e.g. at Christmas or parties, please put the rest in a black sack, tied shut, by the side of your wheelie bin. If you can't fit all of your waste into your bin on a regular basis (after using food waste and recycling collections) please contact us and a member of our Recycling Team will visit you to offer advice and assistance.

Some properties are unsuitable for wheeled bins, such as those with steps or steep slopes in the garden, properties with no front garden and no side access to the back garden. Each property has been carefully assessed by our staff and we will issue wheeled bins to every suitable property.

Residents in unsuitable properties can continue to use refuse sacks for their non-recyclable rubbish, which will be collected every fortnight. A total of 104 sacks will be delivered to these households (52 every six months) free of charge. If you cannot fit all your waste into two sacks per week, please contact us and a member of our Recycling Team will visit you to offer advice and assistance.
