Renewable technology loan

We are currently offering interest-free renewable technology loans of up to £3,000. This is to help homeowners (and landlords) install:

• solar thermal (for heating, please note we no longer offer the loan for solar PV),
• wood fuel boilers (biomass boilers),
• ground and air source heat pumps,
• small garden wind turbines.

The interest-free loan, which is repayable over 5 years, is not means-tested. A list of approved installers is available from the Microgeneration Certification Scheme, please see offsite links section.

Other sources of funding

The government have introduced feed in tariffs for renewable microgeneration technologies. This provides a financial incentive for people, communities and businesses to install renewable energy electricity-generating technologies (like solar PV panels and wind turbines). There is also now a Renewable Heat Incentive (including a grant payment for installation) for technology such as biomass boilers, air and ground source heat pumps and solar thermal panels.

We may consider applicants for solar PV under our Home Improvement Policy through the Home Trust Loan, this will be assessed on a case by case basis.
