VAQAS (Visitor Attraction Quality Assurance Scheme)

Guildford House Gallery has been awarded VAQAS accreditation of Quality Assured Visitor Attraction every year since 2006.

VAQAS is a consumer-focused quality assessment which aims to identify the strengths of an attraction and highlight development areas.

All areas that impact on the quality of the visitor experience are included in the assessment, ranging from the enquiry through to the departure, with specific attention given to customer service and cleanliness.

The service does not attempt to grade attractions but assesses each on its own merits using objective quality benchmarks, provided by the industry.

Guildford House is a public attraction comprising three separate entities: the art gallery, the gift shop, and the café, all of which scored well in the assessments and 'offered the visitor an overall very good quality experience'.

The Assessor's key observations have included:

"The high curatorial standards have been maintained."

The Assessor contacts the Gallery by email, telephone and via the website before the mystery visit.

"Some modifications to the website have made it a more useful aid to locate the gallery".

"The building is in generally good decorative order and all areas were kept exceptionally clean."

"The out of hours telephone messaging service is much improved."

"There appeared to be extra information regarding the building and the provision of two reference guide books in folders is particularly helpful."
