Guildford Photographic SocietySaturday 7 May - Saturday 28 May 2011. Guildford Photographic Society returns to Guildford House.Guildford House Gallery welcomes back the Guildford Photographic Society in May for this exhibition of work from its vast array of amateur and professional photographers.
All visuals on display are the work of the Society's members and it is the aim to give every member the opportunity to have at least one photograph displayed in the exhibition. Members can submit entries for some or all of the following categories; A related panel of prints with an obvious visual relationship between the prints on the panel, a single themed panel of prints, individual prints (general), or individual prints (humour). The Guildford Photographic Society has been in existence for more than 100 years and is one of the oldest in the country. Whilst the Society has held exhibitions every other year in several Guildford town centre venues, Guildford House Gallery has proved to be the most successful venue in terms of facilities, location and public appeal. Numbers of visitors have often exceeded 3,000 and the exhibitions have also proved a good recruiting vehicle for attracting new members. The Guildford Photographic Society's 'season' runs from September to early June. A programme of events includes club and inter-club competitions for prints and slides, and guest presentations where respected photographers bring along their own presentations. Practical demonstrations and critique evenings where they review Society member's own work are available to help other members improve on techniques and subject matter. |
