Community Safety Wardens

'Together we can make a difference'. The community safety wardens work in your area to help develop links between your community and statutory/voluntary agencies.

Our main aims and objectives are:

  • environmental improvements - caring for the appearance of your neighbourhood,
  • community development - assisting groups within the community,
  • deter anti-social behaviour - helping reduce conflict and nuisance,.
  • reduce crime and fear of crime - crime prevention and promotion of neighbourhood watch.

 We achieve these by:

  • visibly patrolling and reporting environmental issues such as litter, graffiti, dog mess, etc - reducing anti-social behaviour,
  • visiting community venues and businesses within their areas to gain trust and establish relationships,
  • identifying needs and acting as a go-between with the community and the different agencies,
  • visiting schools and youth groups to talk about safety and helping to organise community projects and events.

We are employed by Guildford Borough Council and work with partner agencies such as the police, Surrey County Council, community faith groups and parish councils.

We do not have any enforcement powers, but do act as the eyes and ears of the community, reporting issues to the relevant agencies. This means that we are approachable and can deal with individual or group concerns.
