How does Guildford Tourist Information Centre perform?
We publish performance statistics so you know how well we are doing. So how did we perform in 2010/11?
- In 2010 69,405 people visited the Tourist Information Centre in Tunsgate.
- In March 2011 we moved from Tunsgate to Guildford House Gallery, 155 High Street.
- During the move, we remained closed for only one whole day while the transition took place to ensure the availability of tickets and information for our customers.
- From 1 January to 30 November we have already seen 106,129 visitors!
- Our customers on the desk are made up of local residents, UK visitors to the area, foreign visitors to the area, people looking to move into the area and students and their families.
- Our business customers include event promoters, people looking to run a bed and breakfast, people already running a bed and breakfast, local hotels, local attractions and businesses looking for event venues.
- In 2010 staff dealt with 6853 emails and letters.
- In 2010 staff answered 10702 telephone calls.
- The Tourist Information Centre remained open on every snow day in 2010 and 2011.
- Staff at the TIC can speak French, German, Spanish, Finnish, Greek and Italian (however, please note that because of our shift system, we cannot guarantee any one language on any particular day).
- In addition to providing information on our webpages, we also communicate events information and immediate information (for example during snow) through Facebook and Twitter
- In 2010 we received seven written compliments and one written complaint. So far in 2011 we have had 33 written compliments and three written complaints - although two of these related to power cuts when customers were unable to contact us by phone.
- In 2010 we sold tickets and promoted 60 local events including Guildford International Music Festival and Guildford Book Festival.
- We distributed 15,000 Visit Surrey brochures and 20,000 Guildford Attractions brochures as well as several thousand UK holiday and local event brochures and leaflets.
