'Too young to die' - Road Safety Week (21 - 25 November)15 November'Too young to die' is the key message this year from BRAKE and supported by the Safer Guildford Partnership, during road safety week. Members of the neighbourhood teams, community safety wardens, and Guildford Borough Council staff will be out in force visiting schools across the borough all week, talking to pupils about how to avoid possible injury or death on our roads. They hope to spread the message to more than 5,000 pupils on how to 'Be Safe - Be seen'. Surrey Police, Chief Inspector, Matt Goodridge, said: "We cannot stress the importance of 'Be Safe - Be Seen', especially now the darker evenings have drawn in. So we are asking children in particular to pay attention when out and about, get effective lights on bikes, wear reflective clothing, concentrate when crossing roads, and use the roads safely." Year 6 students are also being invited to take part in a Road Safety poster competition organised by Jo Gallagher, Surrey Police, Roads PCSO where winners will be in with a chance to win an Ipod Nano or Ipod Shuffle (contributed by Comet and Tesco) and the winning posters will be used to promote future publicity campaigns.
