Guildford House GalleryGuildford House is a fascinating 17th century Grade 1 Listed town house located on the High Street.It houses Guildford House Gallery: a changing exhibition space offering a varied programme of art and craft shows, workshops and talks; a craft gift shop; Tourist Information Centre and café, all within a character historic setting. Gallery open Monday to Saturday 10am - 4.45pm, Sundays from 1 May - 30 September 11am - 4pm. The Brew House Gallery shows exhibitions of new and emerging artists and is located in the courtyard of Guildford House, above the craft shop. Magnificent Stitches The Embroiderers' Guild is delighted to announce this exhibition of fine historical and contemporary embroidery, to include stunning 17th century items and exciting modern work.
Magnificent Stitches is a celebration of embroidery, the Embroiderers, Guild, and of course its members. The local Guildford Branch will be featured with a display marking its pearl anniversary - 30 years as an Embroiderers' Guild branch. The Embroiderers' Guild supports embroiderers in many ways including through scholarships, exhibiting opportunities and Young Embroiderers' which offers events and activities for the youngest of all embroiderers. Magnificent Stitches will showcase innovative work by a number of emerging textile artists including the Guild's most recent Guild scholars, Emma Lundgren and Fiona Wilson. Come to Guildford House to enjoy this amazing display of embroidery from the past and the present. Displays include embroidery from the 17th to 20th centuries including work from Surrey arts and crafts embroiderer Joan Drew Plus work by contemporary embroiderers: Jan Beaney, Jo Budd, Annette Collinge, Eirian Short, Audrey Walker, Lucy Goffin, amongst others. The Gallery Cafe can be found in the quiet rear courtyard at Guildford House. It is a tranquil setting for refreshments, among the specially designed ceramic pots and gardens.
