Land Availability Assessment (2016) and 2017 Addendum
The Land Availability Assessment (LAA) 2016 has replaced the Strategic Housing Land Avalability Assessment (SHLAA) (2014)
- identifies land with potential for housing and employment development
- assesses the land's potential
- assesses when a site is likely to be developed when published
The 2017 LAA Addendum sits alongside the LAA and supersedes some parts of it. It includes new sites and updates the capacity and phasing of a number of sites within the LAA. It also removes sites that are no longer available for future development, for example if they now have planning permission. The Addendum also provides an updated Housing Trajectory and updated five-year housing land supply as at 1st April 2017.
Strategic Housing Market Assessment
We are required to produce a Strategic Housing Market Assessment (SHMA) in order to have a better understanding of our housing needs. We work with our neighbours when producing it, as housing market areas often span multiple local council areas. Our housing market area covers Guildford, Waverley and Woking borough councils. The SHMA will help inform our new Local Plan by helping us understand how many homes we need and what type. View further information on the Strategic Housing Market Assessment (SHMA).
Traveller Accommodation Assessment
The Travellers' Accommodation Assessment identifies the number of pitches for Gypsies and Travellers and plots for Travelling Showpeople that are needed within our borough. For planning purposes Gypsies, Travellers and Travelling Showpeople, are collectively referred to as travellers.To assess our travellers' accommodation needs we have followed the guidance set out in the Surrey-wide methodology on preparing travellers' accommodation assessments.
