On a Guildford Story walk, you will discover how the town developed from its Saxon origins to become what it is today. Guildford Castle, Lewis Carroll's house, the Guildhall and Abbots hospital all play an important part in this story.
For something different, choose one of the theme walks. The Lewis Carroll, Alan Turing and George Abbot walks look into the extraordinary lives of these Guildford celebrities. New this year, Leading Lights is a walk that celebrates the creative spirit in Guildford. Other walks feature its industries (Made in Guildford), its Pubs and Inns, its Ghost and Legends and tales of Kings, Worthies and Scoundrels. Our 2018 programme is available from the TIC or you can download the programme here.
Booking is only required for Alan Turing and Leading LIghts walks, due to limited places. Otherwise, just meet the guide at the starting point.
All walks start at Tunsgate Arch on Guildford High Street, except
· Alan Turing walks start at G Live
· Mount Cemetery walks start at the cemetery
Private tours for booked groups of 6 or more are also available. Please go to Groups section for information on Group Visits, Student Visits and how to Book a Guided Walk.
Hill Clements have generously sponsored the launch of Leading Lights walk this year.
If you are in town and there isn't a walk scheduled you can download the Hand Held Tours App and do the Historic Trail yourself. (see link at the bottom of this page)
