  • Free but booking essential by email : £0.00

Join award-winning Guildford-based comedian/writer Paul Kerensa (BBC’s Miranda, Not Going Out, Top Gear, C4’s TFI Friday) for a sleigh ride through the history of Christmas – including one or two stops at some familiar Guildford locations. It’s early in the season… but it’s to mark the launch of his new book, out Sept 15th 2017.

In ‘Hark! The Biography of Christmas’, Paul travels through 12 dates of Christmas becoming what it currently is, from carols, Christ and crackers to snow, Santa, Scrooge and Slade.

To launch it, there’ll be a short talk and reading, plus festive nibbles, drinks available, and of course books for signing, selling and stuffing in your stocking.

Paul won ITV’s Take The Mike award for his stand-up, has taken eight shows to the Edinburgh Fringe, and shares a British Comedy Award for writing on Miranda – so expect the odd joke too. Possibly from a cracker.

Tickets are free, but limited, and must be reserved by emailing

“Christmas sits among us like a familiar member of the family – but its history, as told here, is a story-and-a-half. A brilliant book.” Jeremy Vine

“A brilliant writer, fantastic communicator, deep thinker and most importantly, extremely decent bloke.” Chris Evans
