Preparing for winter

During the last two winters we experienced the most severe weather conditions for many years. Although we don't know when we might suffer such a severe winter again, we can all take steps to ensure that we are prepared.

We plan ahead and work with our partners to minimise any disruption, help restore essential services as quickly as possible and provide support to the most vulnerable members of our local community. We will keep you up to date via our website, Facebook and Twitter, also using radio and other ways to inform you if necessary.

During severe weather, our waste collection service may be disrupted. Any changes to collection days or times will be published on the website.

There may also be disruptions to our services for older people. We will give you regular updates and advice, such as any day centre closures and changes to meals to wheels.
