School groups can enjoy free guided tours of Guildford's Saxon, Medieval, Tudor, Georgian, Victorian and Twentieth Century buildings.
Historic guided walks are available to the public on Saturdays, Sundays and Wednesdays.
Guided walks for school groups
Guided walks of Guildford are offered free of charge to schools and can be tailored to fit in with the national curriculum requirements.
Guildford is rich in history; it has a fine collection of buildings covering Saxon, Medieval, Tudor, Georgian, Victorian and Twentieth Century architecture, making it an ideal place for a school visit. A town walk may be combined with time at the Museum or the Victorian Schoolroom.
The voluntary Town Guides show and explain the town to over a thousand pupils each year.
The most popular tour requested by schools is the Historical Tour of Guildford. This includes a brief history from the earliest times with visits to the Undercroft, Abbots Hospital, a church and the Castle grounds. In addition to the Historical Tour, the guides offer tours on Medieval, Tudor and Victorian Guildford to complement the National Curriculum.
Walks are free for educational establishments providing full time education. A donation of £3 per head is requested for other groups, such as language schools. To book a school walk, call 01483 444333 (Tourist Information Centre) or email email@example.com
