Planned improvements for the Crematorium

The key improvements planned for the main building include:

  • a flexible chapel for small and large services, able to accommodate up to 150 to 200 mourners

  • an improved experience within the chapel, with landscape views, better natural lighting, better acoustics, seats instead of pews and a comforting environment

  • an enlarged waiting room

  • more covered outdoor waiting areas and overflow space, separate toilets for men and women

  • improved pedestrian and vehicular flow around the site, eliminating cross-over in services

  • a larger car park (120 spaces) and access roads. This will double the capacity of the current permanent car park

  • expanded Gardens of Remembrance with more choice of memorials

  • an improved Book of Remembrance Room and Flower Room with a new Remembrance courtyard

  • better facilities for the bereaved who are visiting the site and making funeral and memorial arrangements

  • better staff facilities to support the services on site

  • an energy-ef´Čücient building

  • improved facilities, offering a calm, reassuring environment

  • improved and widened access to the site to allow for traffic flow in and out of the site.
