Community Governance Review - Parishes of East Horsley and Effingham

Following a formal request from East Horsley Parish Council, it was agreed at last night's Council meeting to start a Community Governance Review (CGR) to set a new northern boundary between East Horsley and Effingham Parishes in the Effingham Common area.

Along with the amended boundary, the consultation will also look at increasing the number of East Horsley parish councillors from 9 to 12. The consultation will begin in early September.

Cllr Caroline Reeves, Leader of the Council says:

"The outcome of the consultation is expected to be submitted to full Council on 3 December 2019. Any increase in the number of parish councillors approved as part of this Community Governance Review would take effect from the next scheduled parish elections in May 2023."

The review will be carried out by the Council and will involve writing to 55 households affected by the proposed boundary move.
