Guildford Community Fridge now open at the Park Barn Centre

Guildford's Community Fridge is now open for everyone to use! We want to help address food waste and food poverty in the borough and encourage the local community to support each other with donations of fresh food essentials. Salads, fruit and vegetables, dairy products and much more will be available for anyone to collect, free of charge.

Community Fridge at Park Barn Centre
Guildford Borough Council's Community Wellbeing Team has joined forces with the Co-op's Food Share initiative, Marks and Spencer, and local business Cheeseman Brothers Ltd to open the fridge. Students from Kings College will be helping the Wellbeing Team with the everyday running of the fridge.

Cllr Julia McShane, Lead Cllr for Community Health, Support and Wellbeing says: "Our new Community Fridge is a great example of our local community working together to help address a real local issue. When we looked at food poverty in the borough last year, we identified a clear need for more fresh food to help support the fantastic donations to existing food banks. The Community Fridge is the result - you can come and take whatever you like and we are open Monday to Friday from 9am to 4.30pm.

"We also welcome donations - if you have some extra fruit and veg left over that you don't need, please drop it off at the Park Barn Centre during opening hours - thank you for your support!"
