Honorary Alderman Gordon Bridger

It is with great sadness that we can confirm the death of Former Mayor and Honorary Alderman Gordon Bridger last week (Friday, 27 November).

Gordon served as Holy Trinity's Borough Councillor for 16 years from 1991 until 2007. In 2003-04 he was elected Mayor of Guildford and also served on a number of committees including as Vice-Chairman of the Planning Committee and the former Audit Committee and Policy and Resources Committee. Gordon also represented the Council on several external bodies including Age Concern (Guildford and District) and the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre Trust.

In November 2007, Gordon was recognised for his distinguished service as Councillor and Mayor in being awarded the title of Honorary Alderman.

Cllr Marsha Moseley, Deputy Mayor of Guildford says:

"We were deeply saddened to hear of the death of Gordon Bridger and our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time. Gordon was committed to helping residents in our borough and had a great intellect and sense of humour. He was always seeking the best for Guildford and had endless amounts of passion and positivity. Gordon will be sadly missed and our thoughts are with his wife Jean and his family."
