Former Mayor and Councillor Jenny Jordan

It is with great sadness that we can confirm the death of former Mayor Jenny Jordan earlier this week (Tuesday 9 February).

Jenny was first elected as a Councillor in 1987 and represented the  Merrow and Burpham ward for eight years until 1995. Jenny served on a number of committees, including the former Arts and Recreation Committee, Building and Works Committee and Housing and Health Committee.

She then served on the Council for a second period of sixteen years from 2003 to 2019. During this time, Jenny served as the Mayor of Guildford on two occasions, in 2008-09 and 2012-13. She also served on various scrutiny committees and the Licensing Committee.

Cllr Richard Billington, Mayor of Guildford says:

"We were deeply saddened to hear of the death of Jenny Jordan and our thoughts are with her family and friends at this difficult time. Jenny served our community as a Councillor for an incredible 24 years and was committed to helping residents in our borough. She was kind and passionate and really cared for her ward and borough residents, always wanting the best for them. Jenny was Mayor for two terms including during the 2012 London Olympics. Jenny was particularly kind and helpful to newly elected councillors and she will be sadly missed. Our thoughts are with her family."

Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.
