Figment Productions will be offering the chance for up to 100 Individuals to have a unique VR experience and personalised digital avatar creation at the Bellerby Studio throughout the day. To take part you will need to sign up for a time slot on the day. The experience itself will take 10-15mins from start to finish. We suggest that the VR experience is for children of 10 years of age or above with no upper age limit.  The Avatar creation is available for all ages.

How to book a session: We have had an overwhelming response to our VR experience and have now filled all our pre bookable time slots. The Avatar creation will be available for people on the day without pre booking, and there are a limited number of spaces left for the VR experience for people on the day. Please come and see us early in the day to avoid disappointment.

We'll have a team of Figment staff from all departments, (CG, Software, AV Tech, Film, design and producers) all ready to chat with you about what we do at Figment and show you some of our most recent work and answer any questions you might have about how we deliver amazing VR experiences for theme parks and visitor attractions.

Re-engineering mosquitoes to fight disease

Description: Ever been bitten by a mosquito and wondered why we can't just get rid of them all? These biting insects are a nuisance for us in the UK, but in other areas of the world they cause devastation through the spread of diseases such as malaria and Zika virus. Pesticides can be used to control their numbers, but this can come at a large cost to the environment and food chain. But not to fear, a potential solution is at hand! In this talk, Professor Luke Alphey shows us how editing the DNA of mosquitoes can help us to control their numbers and reduce the spread of diseases.
