This 16th century building of great historic interest, formerly a courtroom and council chamber and is still a thriving part of the local community. The ground floor is of Tudor origin, with beautifully preserved panelling and the building houses the civic plate and many rare items, which are well worth the visit to see. The classical front of the building is dominated by a magnificent and iconic bracket clock made in 1683. Many annual special events take place and begin here including the magical Christmas Lights switch on, the fun-filled pancake race and memorable military parades.

The Guildhall is used for civic functions and it is also available to hire. Modern facilities combine with historical character to provide a perfect setting for conferences, receptions, seminars and social gatherings. Please contact for more information.
