Notify Us

Before starting construction on the site, as well as during the process, you will need to fill out and send us specific notices at different stages.

1- Appointment of contractor form: this form must be submitted before construction begins on site. You don't need to submit this if you've already included this information in your application.
2- Start of work notification: you need to submit this form two days before your on-site construction begins. You can use the form below or make contact by emailing buildingcontrol@guildford.gov.uk or by phone.
3- Notice of commencement form: you need to submit to this form within 5 days of starting the project. The project is considered commenced when either:

  • If your project has foundations, work is commenced when the foundations and ground floor structure are in place
  • If your project doesn't have foundations, the project is commenced when you've completed 15% of the total work. You will have stated this 15% milestone in your application for eligible projects

4- Notice of completion form: notice is required within five days of finishing all the building work. Everyone responsible must complete this notice. If you do not complete this, you may not be able to get the completion certificate.
5- Notice of change of duty holder form: to be submitted if you change your builder or designer during the project.
6- Notice of occupation: to be submitted if your project requires consultation with the fire brigade. Notice is required up to 5 days before the building or part of it is to be occupied.
