Apply for a house of multiple occupation licence (HMO)

Apply or renew a HMO licence

To apply or renew your HMO licence, you'll need to:

  • complete all sections of the HMO form and sign all declarations
  • pay the licence fee of £1037.34 (paid on the licensing portal)
  • upload a copy of the current gas safety certificate for the property this application relates to. The certificate must be dated in the last 12 months at the time this HMO application is being made
  • upload a copy of the current electrical safety EICR report for the property this application relates to. The EICR report submitted must:
    • not contain any C1, C2 or F1 codes
    • have a satisfactory report conclusion or outcome
    • be dated within the last 5 years at the time this HMO application is being made

You can get a discounted licence fee if you are:

  • a member of a recognised landlord organisation
  • an accredited landlord of the Guildford Letting Scheme

We'll need to see proof of eligibility to get the discount.
