Household support fund

What is the Household support fund?

As part of the nationwide efforts to recover following the pandemic, we have been provided with funding from the Government's Household support fund.

The Household support fund is designed to help ease financial pressure on residents with low incomes. It is short-term financial support to help with food, fuel bills and other related essentials this winter.

The scheme runs until 31 March 2022 or until all funds have been allocated. 

All applicants will be treated fairly and consistently. We will monitor this scheme to ensure that we are making the best use of the money we have available.

Who can apply?

Applicants must:

  • be over the age of 16
  • live in Guildford
  • be without sufficient resources to meet the immediate short-term needs of themselves or dependants

How do I apply?

Complete and return the application form to Give us much detail as possible to help us make an assessment of the household needs and priorities.

What will not be awarded?

Mortgage support will not be awarded.

If you are having difficulty with your mortgage payments, contact your lender as soon as possible. Lenders will have set procedures to help.

What happens next?

We will make a decision based on the information provided in the application form and any other information available to us.

Once we have made a decision we will give you a written notice advising:

  • whether an award has been made
  • the reason for the decision
  • the intended use of the award
  • the amount of the award

How will payments be made?

If successful, we will make a payment directly to your bank account.

Funding will be provided as quickly as possible to meet the agreed needs of the household.

It may not always be possible to provide the full amount of funding required due the limited funds we have available.

What if I am not awarded any money?

The scheme is discretionary and there are no appeal rights.

If unsuccessful, you can ask us to look at your case again within five days of our decision.
